Outpost, Bali

Outpost & Nomads Giving Back! have teamed up to bring you Meaningful Movie Meetups!

We will feature socially-conscious films followed by an engaging discussion and sharing of ideas. You’ll have the opportunity to make new friends from Bali and around the world, become better informed about social issues and get inspired to make a difference and give back!

Plus… thanks to our wonderful venue host Bali Bowls & Smoothies - Canggu, you’ll have the opportunity to buy delicious food & drinks… AND treat yourself to some free yummy popcorn!

Next Up!… Sharkwater

Sharkwater explores the densest shark hunting populations in the world, exposing the exploitation and corruption of the shark-hunting industry in vital marine reserves around the world. This epic, groundbreaking documentary follows conservationists, Paul Watson and Rob Steward, as they confront poachers, police, corrupt court systems, and eventually murder charges.
Spotlighting the vital role sharks play in the ecosystem, the documentary shows how sharks are slowly being driven to extinction and what we can do to make a difference.

Following the film, we’re so excited to have an expert in ocean conservation as our guest facilitator. Our dear friend, Emma Sparrow, Ocean Mimic CEO and co-founder, will facilitate our group discussion where everyone can share their insights and engage in spirited discussions about the issues raised and share how we can help to make an immediate difference.

About the host:

Nomads Giving Back! inspires nomads, expats & travelers to give back to the communities we call our home away from home. We celebrate people who are creating social impact around the world and raising awareness of the ways everyday heroes are giving back.

Tarek Kholoussy, the founder of Nomads Giving Back!, will host this week’s Meaningful Movie Meetup alongside the amazing Outpost team at their modern, relaxed Canggu space. Tarek is a corporate-executive-turned-social-entrepreneur who explored 100+ countries, ran 25+ marathons and created this social enterprise with the purpose to help nomads inspire themselves and inspire the world!

About the co-host:

Emma Sparrow is the CEO and co-founder of @oceanmimic. Ocean Mimic is a movement which aims to empower individuals to protect the oceans. They have a multi-pronged approach which aims to solve the complex plastic issue at the source while also cleaning up the mess. This includes environmental education for children, beach-cleanups, and gorgeous swimwear made out of recycled plastic materials.

P.S. You can also join Ocean Mimic every Saturday, from 3-4pm, for a beach cleanup at @oldmansbali. A wonderful opportunity to give back to beautiful Bali!
