Selina (Medellin)

Have you ever wanted to give back to Medellin, but sure how? Have you wanted to volunteer, wanted to donate money, but had trouble finding the right organization?

Let us tell you this, you do not need to work with an organization to have a massive positive impact. You can start right now!

Nomads Giving Back have brought you this talk, where you will learn about how we can improve the lives of many other people by making the right decisions around the way, we spend our money.

Weโ€™ll talk about:

1. How making small changes in our lifestyle can have huge impacts on local communities.
2. How micro-economies work
3. How & Where money moves (large vs. small businesses, the spending power of the millions of people in this city)
4.How the way we spend money affects the livelihood of the people and the economy of Medellin.

About the Speaker:

Eric Andrews is a California native that graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduating, he moved to Silicon Valley and worked for three years in Finance for a technology-education company. Feeling unfulfilled in an office every day optimizing technology products, he built an international online education business in 2016, bought a one-way flight to Bangkok, and quit his job. For the next two years, he traveled through Southeast Asia and Latin America with a backpack. It was on this trip he became interested in improving the lives of other people through changes in consumption as well as volunteering.

In January 2019, he moved full-time to Medellin. Shortly after moving, he founded a women-focused social impact project in partnership with the a vulnerable community of El Pinar, above Santo Domingo, where he currently gives English classes on Saturdays and plans to roll out additional initiatives alongside the parents of the community. He now splits his time between volunteering in El Pinar, consulting with Silicon Valley startups as an outsourced CFO, and maintaining his online business. He is fluent in Spanish and lives in Suramericana.
