Modern Woman Festival have invited Nomads Giving Back! to feature a powerful documentary film called Girl Rising followed by an engaging discussion and sharing of ideas. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from three inspiring women who have meaningful insights to share from their exceptional experiences advocating for social impact. You’ll leave the discussion better informed about social issues facing girls around the world and more inspired to make a difference and give back!Girl Rising is a remarkable film which documents the stories of nine girls from all over the world taking on daunting cultural and societal barriers to gain education and independence. Their stories are a true testament to the power and resilience of the human spirit. About Our Facilitators:
Virginia Campo does not only serve as an Ambassador for Nomads Giving Back! but also as the Co-founder and CEO of Hecha y Derecha, a women’s empowerment organisation based in Panama. This incredible network supports a fund which provides grants and scholarships for women to pursue higher education or entrepreneurial endeavours. Its goal is to ultimately help close the massive opportunity gap between men and women. Through this initiative, Panamanian women have been afforded greater access to the tools they need to fully realise their potential.
Olivia Purba serves as Bali Tribe Leader and Strategic Partnerships Manager for Nomads Giving Back! She has over nine years experience as a development professional specializing in environmental issues, public policy, agriculture and youth empowerment in Indonesia, Australia, Colombia and Nepal. She is passionate about assisting the government, NGOs and private business to bring more social impact to the community through research, program design and implementation, capacity building and public speaking. She completed her double masters degree (Masters of Environmental Management and Development and Master of Diplomacy) in Australia. Recently, Olivia published a book on her experience traveling to over 35 countries to represent Indonesia for youth advocacy and research (www.travelingajadulu.com) and also run a podcast on sustainable business on Bali in her spare time (www.livinginbalipodcast.com).
Bianca Caruana serves as an ambassador for Nomads Giving Back and is best known for “The Altruistic Traveller” - a blog and podcast that shares ethical stories and interviews with inspirational changemakers around the world. The blog has a strong focus on sustainable tourism and shares stories that ignite thoughts surrounding compassion, ethics and the happiness of all beings. Bianca travels the world as a freelance journalist and digital nomad with the aim to promote ethical values and give a voice to those who are making the world a better place.
